Cationic azure dyes color cell nuclei dark blue/purple, while anionic eosin dyes color mature red blood cells and granules pink/orange-red.Pathogen & Parasite Detection: It is the global gold standard for identifying Plasmodium (Malaria) in thick and thin blood films, alongside other blood-borne infections like Trypanosoma, Chlamydia, and Histoplasma.Cytogenetics & Histology: It is widely utilized for chromosome G-banding karyotype analysis, as well as highlighting bone marrow structure, mast cells, and Helicobacter pylori bacteria in tissue biopsies.Typical Staining Procedure Quick GuideFixation: Air-dry the sample smear and fix it with absolute methanol for 10 minutes.Dilution: Prepare a working solution by mixing the stock solution with distilled water buffered to a strict pH of 7.2 (typically a 1:20 or similar ratio depending on standard protocol).Staining: Flood the slide with the diluted solution and incubate for 15 to 45 minutes.Rinsing & Drying: Briefly rinse excess stain with distilled or buffered water, drain off, and allow to air-dry completely before examining under an oil immersion microscope lens.Handling and Storage PrecautionsFlammable & Toxic: The solution contains high levels of methanol, making it flammable and toxic if ingested, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin.
